Teen Drivers Education :
Do you want to earn your Colorado driver license? In order to achieve this goal you must first obtain one of three learner’s permits depending upon your age. The Teen Driver Education Permit is available to minors age 15 to 15 ½. This means that you can begin the process of obtaining your license once you are 14 ½ years old. In order to be eligible for your Colorado Drivers Permit, you must first complete a driver education course. As of April 23, 2007, the DMV requires you to present an Affidavit of Completion of a Driver Education Classroom Course (like the Colorado Online Driver Education course) within 6 months of applying for your permit. Those who receive a Colorado Online Teen driver education permit on or after April 23, 2007 are required to complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a driving instructor before applying for a driver’s license. If there is no approved school offering 20 or more hours of behind-the-wheel training within 30 miles of the permit holder’s home, you may instead complete 12 hours of behind-the-wheel training with a parent, guardian, or alternate permit supervisor. This means that if you complete the NDSS Teen Driver Education Online Course you may be able to earn your Driver Education Permit without stepping foot inside a classroom! All minors under the age of 18 are also required to present a written log indicating that they have completed 50 hours of drive time practice with the adult who signed their Affidavit of Liability and Guardianship or with an alternate supervisor. At least 10 of the 50 hours must be driven at night.
