Colorado State Teen Driver's License

In order to receive your Colorado driver’s license, you must pass a driving test. In order to do so you must be at least 18 years old, or you must have held your permit for at least 12 months. When you’re transitioning from your permit to your license, your license costs $25.60. It is valid until 20 days after your 21st birthday. Any other time your
Teen Driver license costs $15.60 and is valid for 5 years.
Restrictions:
- Minors under 18 must hold their license for a minimum of 6 months before they can transport a passenger under the age of 21.
- Minors under 18 must hold their license for a minimum of 1 year before they can transport more than one passenger under the age of 21.
Exceptions include:
- If the passengers are immediate family members
- If the passenger is in need of emergency medical assistance
- If your parents or guardian is in the vehicle.
- If an adult over the age 21 who has held their driver’s license for at least one year is in the vehicle
- Minors under the age of 18 are not allowed to drive between the hours of 12 a.m. and 5 a.m
Exceptions include:
- If you are driving to or from work
- If you are driving to or from school
- If your parent or guardian is in the vehicle
- If an adult over the age 21 who has held their driver’s license for at least one year is in the vehicle
- If you are in an emergency situation
- If you are emancipated minor
